Alumnus of the Master of Arts in World Literatures and Cultures Bradley Sykes plays "Hank" in Toto Too's upcoming production of "The Boys in the Band". Bradley is a former ballet and contemporary dancer and made his acting début earlier this year with TotoToo as “David” in Love and Human Remains, and he was then an ensemble member in Orpheus’s Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Bradley has regular daydreams of being in a band, now it’s finally coming true. Being part of this show is special for him! He’s loved considering what it was like to walk part of a mile in the shoes of men who lived in a very different world and to explore the Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve, and Talent that they needed to face it and to change it. “Hank” is a rather butch basketball- and tennis-playing math teacher. LOL. On the surface, he seems more traditional and level-headed than the rest of the band, yet he’s subversive and daring to be bisexual and to love a man, fairly openly, beyond only lusting for one. In his time, as the play shows, real love between men “didn’t exist” or was taught to be an impossible joke, a sickness, or an abomination. He doesn’t accept that. Hope to see you come out! Bradley would love to hear some of your news.
