Last time it was a stand-up paddleboard. This time we’re giving away a ship. (A LEGO® one, but still.)

Show us your best shot of an RBR instrument in action (on deck, under ice, on a mooring, on the lab bench at 2am before a cruise, etc.), and you could win a 3000+ piece LEGO® model of Shackleton’s Endurance.

Why Endurance? Shackleton’s family motto was “By endurance we conquer”. Our instruments agree.

To enter:
1. Post your photo on LinkedIn
2. Tag and add
3. Tell us the story behind it

Old favourites from the archive are welcome. Our judges are looking for the best photo and story, so likes won’t help but a good action shot will. Two runners-up get RBR swag too.

Entries close 30 November. Details and T&Cs: https://www.rbr-global.com/endurance

We can't wait to see your RBR instruments in action.

Two talks, one booth, and of course the chance to take home a stand-up paddleboard. Sea Tech Week is shaping up nicely.

Our own Didier Clech, Business Manager at RBR Europe, is heading to Brest next week for Campus mondial de la mer Sea Tech Week from 6 to 8 October, and he's giving two presentations.

The first, "Connected observatories: tsunami detection and geophysics with the RBRquartz³ BPR|zero," looks at what key oceanographic data can tell us, including for tsunami warning, when our instruments are connected to undersea cable networks.

The second, "RBR generation 4 instrumentation designed to meet the operational constraints of oceanographic campaigns characterised by long-term deployments and high-precision data," introduces our latest generation compact instruments, launched earlier this year. Yes - it's a long title, but that's what happens when you try to fit the many capabilities of such a small instrument into a single sentence.

Between talks, you'll find Didier at booth #15. Drop by to see our latest instruments up close, and enter the draw to win the SUP. He'd love to hear what you're working on.

Power is the quiet tyrant of every autonomous ocean instrument. Every design decision — sensor choice, sampling rate, and deployment length — comes back to how much energy you have to spend.

RBR's Director of Marketing, Stefan Stimson, is joining Iain Francis at Australian Marine Sciences Association (AMSA2026) this week, presenting "Power as a design constraint: instrumentation philosophy and its consequences for autonomous ocean observation" — a look at how that one constraint shapes almost everything else in instrument design.

Find them both at booth #8 — stop by for a chat, see some of our latest innovation, and have a shot at winning one of our stand-up paddleboards.

If you're at QT Canberra this week, come find them. They'd love to hear what you're working on.

Booth booked. Latest RBR innovation packed. Presentation prepared. Ready for AMSA.

RBR will again be at the Australian Marine Sciences Association (AMSA) conference, and this year Iain Francis, our Technical Sales Manager for Australia and New Zealand, is presenting.

Find Iain at booth #8 for a practical, friendly look at what our instruments can really do, plus attend his presentation to help you take your pressure logger knowledge to new depths.

And it wouldn't be AMSA without us giving away one of our stand-up paddleboards. Maybe you can paddle it in front of Parliament House on the Friday if you win it! hashtag

If you're in Canberra, come say hello. Iain would love to hear what you're working on.

We're heading to Nipaluna/Hobart for the 2026 Australian Antarctic Research Conference (AARC), 25-28 August.

Hobart is the gateway to the Southern Ocean and homeport to the RSV Nuyina and RV Investigator. It is also the centre of Antarctic science for CSIRO, Australian Antarctic Division, and University of Tasmania IMAS, and AARC brings together Australia's Antarctic research community — from glaciology and oceanography to biology and geophysics — to look at where Antarctic and Southern Ocean science is headed over the next decade.

Our Director of Marketing, Stefan Stimson, will be there for the week. If you're attending too, come find him - he'd love to chat.

Continuing a busy month on the road, RBR heads to Vitória, Espírito Santo, for the IX Congresso Brasileiro de Oceanografia.

Organised by AOCEANO Brasil and Federal University of Espirito Santo, CBO'2026 is Brazil's national oceanography congress and is hosted this year on an island city wrapped around Vitória Bay.

Representing RBR, ocean data specialist Max Vergara-Jara will lead a short course, "A field-ready logger: a short course on RBR instruments and Ruskin," giving participants hands-on time with RBR instruments and Ruskin software to prepare them for time in the field.

You can find Max at booth 12 to talk about all things oceanographic and explore how our latest innovations can elevate your research. And whilst you are there, enter the draw for an RBR stand-up paddleboard.

Até lá, Vitória!

After another amazing event in Newcastle, NSW, we're pleased to send Jack Marsh of Bluecoast Consulting Engineers home with his new RBR stand-up paddleboard. He won't have to take it far home or to use it either — he's based in Bluecoast's Newcastle office and is surrounded by some of the best coastline and waterways around.

Congratulations, Jack, and thank you to the AusYCSEC organising committee for putting together another successful conference, connecting, fostering, and showcasing the next generation of coastal scientists and engineers across Australasia.

Newcastle, we're coming back for the 7th Australasian Young Coastal Scientists & Engineers Conference ( ).

RBR has supported this event for years — there's nothing quite like a room full of people just starting out in coastal science, asking the right questions and pushing the field forward.

From 12–14 August 2026, find us at the Newcastle Museum: display table, full programme, and our own Iain Francis, Technical Sales Manager for Australia and New Zealand, presenting "Taking your pressure logger knowledge to new depths" — an in-depth look that will help you get the most out of your instrument and data.

Come say hello, bring your toughest instrumentation questions, and ask for a demo on how our newly released barometer combined with Ruskin can now make processing your water pressure data a breeze.

And whilst you are at it, throw your name in the draw: one lucky delegate walks away with an RBR stand-up paddle board — the only sort of plastic that should float on the ocean!

See you in Newcastle at AusYCSEC.

Portland, Maine, get ready — PECS 2026 rolls into town from 9–14 August, and Valentina Lopera, one of our technical sales managers, will be there representing RBR!

If you're heading to the Physics of Estuaries and Coastal Seas conference, stop by and say hi. Valentina will be showcasing our latest innovation, including our newly released barometer, paired with some neat smarts in Ruskin that makes processing your pressure data a breeze.

Curious how our instruments could support your research? This is your chance to ask in person!

Heading to Vancouver for the Young Coastal Scientists and Engineers Conference - Americas? RBR will be there too.

From 5–8 August 2026, you'll find us at the The University of British Columbia — at our display table and on the stage.

Our own Sydney Bacon, Technical Sales Manager, is presenting "Taking your pressure logger knowledge to new depths": a talk for anyone who's ever wondered how to get the most out of their pressure data.

Sydney loves nothing more than helping researchers push their instruments to the max, and she's bringing that ethos to YCSEC-A. Swing by the display table afterwards with your toughest deployment questions, your best (or worst) calibration stories, or just to say hi.

See you on the water's edge. 🌊
