Join us on May 23 starting at 2:30pm at The Bridge Public House for a coffee and to discuss This Is Happiness by Niall Williams.

Set in the small Irish village of Faha in the late 1950s, this coming-of-age tale follows seventeen-year-old Noel throughout a summer of change as the never-ending rain has stopped, electricity is finally coming to town and an intriguing newcomer has just arrived. Witness the quiet moments of change, connection, and reflection that reveal the beauty of ordinary life.

Bring out your inner rock star! Join the McGill Alumni Association (MAA) of Ottawa on Saturday May 9 at The Royal Oak (Bank & Gloucester) for a lively evening of music and community.

Starting at 8:00 PM, come meet, mingle, and grab a drink with fellow McGillians to get ready for Karaoke at 9:00 PM! Singing is encouraged but not required.

The McGill Alumni Association of Ottawa invites you to go "underground" at Brigid's Well Pub for our Alumni social stating at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, April 15. This unique Irish bar and music venue, tucked away beneath Saint Brigid's Church (look for the blue light to find the way in), is the perfect place to network with fellow National Capital Region McGillians.

The MAA of Ottawa Book Club will gather at The Bridge Public House on April 11th starting at 2:30pm to discuss The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon.

Set in 1789 Maine, the story follows midwife Martha Ballard after a body is found frozen in the Kennebec River. While others dismiss the death, Martha suspects something more and begins uncovering secrets within her tight-knit community. Inspired by real events, this historical mystery explores justice, truth, and the courage to speak up.

New members are always welcome and don't forget to bring ideas for what we should read next! Registration for the in-person discussion meeting is free; food and beverages are pay-as-you-go.
