Sana Aziz from the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia, Beth House from the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, Nicole McDonald from the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, and Erica Zarazun from the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan met to discuss the work on dementia friendly communities.

Thank you to everyone who joined us today at the Godfrey Dean Art Gallery to celebrate all of the artists in our exhibition Belong Where You Find Yourself.

Thanks to local artists Ron, Pat, Merle, Dean, Elaine, Herb, Bonnie, Leon, Verna, Amanda, Twila, and Jeanette for sharing their stories and their creativity, and to Alana Moore and Amber Phelps Bondaroff for their leadership and guidance through this year-long process.

The reception today was a joy to experience, and we are so fortunate to have a beautiful gallery space and such a supportive and caring community. Special thank you also to Merle Wiley for her help producing today's reception.

Belong Where You Find Yourself is on display at GDAG until May 23. Stay tuned for news on a community presentation tour later this year when we will bring some of the artworks in this exhibition, as well as a documentary film about the project, to local communities.

Join us Sunday afternoon as we celebrate all of the amazing local artists and artworks in this major exhibition at the Godfrey Dean Art Gallery.

On Sunday, May 7, 1:00-4:00pm, we will open the gallery to the public for a special reception event. Snacks and refreshments will be available, and we’ll hear from the two lead artists Alana Moore and Amber Phelphs Bondaroff, who have been working in Yorkton for more than a year and half to make this project happen.

The event is free to attend, and everyone is welcome.

Belong Where You Find Yourself features the work of local artists Elaine Berard & Herb Elder; Bonnie & Leon Jones; Merle & Dean Wiley; Amanda Babey & Verna Off; Pat & Ron Walton; and Twila Napoleoni & Jeanette Haberstock.

The artists have worked collaboratively and individually across drawing, painting, photography, film making, storytelling, music, musical theatre, wood working, sculpture, and fabric art. Showing together as a group exhibition, the collection tells different stories from people in our community, and it is itself an artistic statement about life, family, love, and belonging.

Please join us on at the Godfrey Dean Art Gallery Sunday, May 7, 1:00-4:00pm, to celebrate everyone involved and to share in this unique and meaningful community art project.

Coming soon at the Godfrey Dean Art Gallery in Yorkton, BELONG WHERE YOU FIND YOURSELF is a unique art exhibition created by local artists and craftspeople working collaboratively and individually across drawing, painting, photography, film making, storytelling, musical theatre, wood working, sculpture, and fabric art.

Under the direction of Lead Artists Alana Moore () and Amber Phelps Bondaroff (), the exhibition shares art and stories from people in our community whose lives have been impacted by dementia. The result is a multidisciplinary and multigenerational artistic statement about life, family, love, and belonging.

The exhibition will be on display at GDAG in Yorkton between April 5 and May 23. Don’t miss your chance to see this one-of-a-kind art project from an inspirational group of local artists.

A public reception will take place at the gallery on Sunday, May 7, between 1:00-4:00pm.

We will also be open special holiday weekend hours Sat April 8 and Sunday April 9, 1:00-4:00pm. Consider bringing your family and friends to share in this reflective and memorable artistic experience.
