The University of Regina Chamber Singers and Concert Choir have enjoyed a beautiful choir retreat weekend with Dr. Mark Ramsay, conductor from Western University in London, Ontario. After sessions on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday morning the weekend concluded with a choral reading session co-hosted by Saskatchewan Choral Federation, Long & McQuade Musical Instruments, and the University of Regina Department of Music. It was an amazing time of learning, singing, and sharing 🎶

Today, the halls of RC 175 and the Riddell theatre were filled with music as Cheryl Ferguson and Dr. Morgan worked with students from the Balfour Arts Collective. Thank you Ms. Kelsey Kuz and Mr. Brent Gelsinger for bringing your choirs and bands to the MAP: Faculty of Media, Art, and Performance - University of Regina for your music retreat!

We are excited to host Paulina Salisbury, Soprano, winner of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Associations Young Artist Competition and her pianist, Karen Reynaud to the University of Regina campus.

The CFMTA Young Artist Series is a national program of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Associations. The competition provides young performers with an opportunity to showcase their talents and to find direction in their early musical careers. Established in 1942 by Lyell Gustin of Saskatoon, it has since expanded to include concerts in cities across Canada.

Last Friday evening was a, “Grand Night of Singing…” as co-directors, Dr. Tina Alexander-Luna, Alyssa Woolhether, and Rachel Andrist launched the Prairie Vocal Arts Collective.

The gala concert featured an evening of opera, art song, and cabaret sung by Dr. Tina Alexander-Luna, Joshua Hendricksen, Andrea McCulloch, Emily Ready, Robert Ursan, Alyssa Woolhether and special guest, Mayson Sonntag all accompanied on piano by Rachel Andrist.
