The Faculty of Media, Art, and Performance offers BFA and BA undergraduate degree programs and MFA and MA graduate programs in a range of disciplines, and encourages interdisciplinary study among four departments: Film, Music, Theatre, Visual Arts. Film (formerly Media Production and Studies) students experience the widest possible range of learning experiences within a broad-based education progr

am in film and digital media. Film offers the only BFA Film Production program between Toronto and Vancouver. The Music Department allows unrivaled access to ensembles, recitals and community-and university-based organizations and events. Excellence of faculty and staff and top quality education are the hallmarks of the Music Department. In the Theatre Department students experience professional training, hands-on theatrical work and liberal arts studies in facilities that are second to none. Professional fieldwork rounds out the range of degree programs available through this department. Visual Arts studies includes painting, drawing sculpture, ceramics, photo-based practices, art history, or any number of fascinating expressive media. Small classes, experienced, practicing faculty and bright, spacious and modern facilities ensure the best possible learning environment for Visual Arts students. A new stream of courses, Creative Technologies, encourages interdisciplinary study. The Faculty of Media, Art, and Performance is one of only a select few post-secondary institutions in Canada to offer MA and MFA degree programs in Interdisciplinary Studies.

As we gear up for our first show in our 2026-27 season, we wanted to celebrate the talented musicians that make the Regina Jazz Orchestra. Next we have one of our trombonists, Dr. David Dick!

Dr. Dick currently serves as the Dean of Media, Art and Performance at the University of Regina, where he also leads the UofR Jazz Ensemble and Trombone Ensemble. In addition to performing with RJO, Dr. Dick also holds the position of Principal Trombone with the Regina Symphony Orchestra.

Congratulations to Mona Navaei Roshandel on successfully defending her Master of Fine Arts in Film Production thesis, "In My Hands, You Remain."

The external examiner was Dr. Kelly Egan of Trent University. Mona’s supervisory committee consisted of her supervisor, Prof. Mike Rollo (Film), with Dr. Jonathan Petrychyn (Film) and Prof. Kyath Battie (Film) serving as committee members. Dr. Philip Charrier (History) chaired the defence.

Erika Ospina Almanza has successfully defended her Master of Fine Arts in Film Production thesis, "Palijuna." The external examiner was Prof. Éléonore Goldberg of Emily Carr University of Art + Design.

Erika's supervisory committee consisted of Prof. Gerald Saul (Film) and Prof. Mike Rollo (Film) as co-supervisors, with Dr. Matthew Thompson (Film) serving as a committee member. The defence was chaired by Dr. Ken Wilson (English).

✨ The Board of Directors for Neutral Ground Artist-Run Centre is pleased to announce the appointment of Mika Abbott (she/her) as the new Director/Curator.

Shaped by a deep commitment to Neutral Ground and its community of artists, Mika brings a bold curatorial vision, a passion for arts, and a commitment to sharing creativity in the city of Regina to the role of Director/Curator.

Beyond serving as the board chair for Neutral Ground over the past 2 years, Mika has also been instrumental in digitization initiatives at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum and the Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan, she has held roles at Dunlop Art Gallery, maintained a thriving lens-based art practice, and also serves as Festival Curator for Nuit Blanche Regina.

Mika holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Regina (2020), and has gained hands-on experience with artists around the world, participating in residencies in Spain, mentorship in Saskatchewan, and independent research funded by SK Arts.

Mika’s contributions to Neutral Ground and the broader arts community are invaluable. Please join us in welcoming her as the new Director/Curator of Neutral Ground Artist-Run Centre.
