And the winners are in…

Congratulations to The Barra MacNeils – including MtA grads Sheumas '84, Kyle '85, Stewart '87, and Lucy '91 – who received the Dr. Helen Creighton Lifetime Achievement Award this past week at the 2026 East Coast Music Awards in Sydney, NS. This award recognizes their extraordinary four-decade career and their lasting contribution to Celtic music and the culture of Atlantic Canada.

We also congratulate several of our MtA Music faculty members, who were 2026 ECMA award recipients and nominees:

• Amy Brandon – winner of the award for Classical Composer of the Year, based on a collection of her works
• Adam Cicchillitti – Instrumental Release of the Year award winner, along with his guitar duo partner, Steve Cowan, for their album “Lyrique”
• Joel Miller – nominated in two categories, Instrumental Release of the Year and Jazz Release of the Year, for his album “What If?”

We are very fortunate to have these accomplished artist-educators as MtA Music faculty!
