Brock University Faculty Association The Brock University Staff Association was founded in 1965, just one year after the university itself was established.

Brock University Faculty Association (BUFA) is certified under the Labour Relations Act of the Province of Ontario, representing all Faculty and Professional Librarians at Brock University. It was only in December 1996 that the Brock University Faculty Association became a union, certified under the Labour Relations Act of the Province of Ontario, representing all faculty and professional libraria

ns at Brock University. In the summer of 1998, we signed a three-year contract, retroactive to July 1, 1997 and remaining in effect until June 30, 2000. This contract specified terms and conditions of employment, as well as salaries and benefits, for faculty and professional librarians. BUFA ‘s present collective agreement (2017-2020) expires on June 30, 2023.

Across the province, more than half of undergraduate courses are now taught by contract faculty: highly trained instructors hired on short-term, often precarious contracts, with little job security, access to employer benefits or institutional support. OCUFA is holding a Social Media Day of Action to shine a light on this stark reality and call for fair, stable working conditions for contract faculty.
