Brock University Department of History

Brock University Department of History Brock History: Learn about the past. Prepare for your future. To understand the present and prepare for the future, one must learn about the past.

But Brock’s faculty believes that History is more than memorizing facts and dates. It involves exploring changes in bygone societies, cultures and peoples. And the study of History entails evaluating and interpreting evidence as well as formulating logical arguments based on that evidence. Brock History students benefit from a rich diversity of course offerings, including first-year surveys to adv

anced fourth-year and graduate seminars. All lectures are paired with small weekly seminars where students hone their skills in critical thinking, analysis and presentation in a supportive setting.

Want to find out what our young scholars are up to? Check out this virtual session hosted by the Niagara on the Lake Museum. On February 18, six History MA students - along with two Ph.D. students in Brock's Interdisciplinary Humanities Ph.D. program and one postdoctoral fellow in the History Department - presented illuminating snapshots of their research.

Thanks to the museum and to our graduate program director, Dr. Jessica Clark, for making this happen - and now, for making it available to the public. Check it out at your leisure.
