Students from Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) had the opportunity to explore the world of pneumatics through a hands-on learning experience hosted by Fanshawe’s St. Thomas Elgin Regional campus.
The day began with a review of safety procedures, circuit schematics, and the mechanical components used in the training system. Rick Martin and Mike Ashby then challenged students to apply their knowledge in two practical exercises. First, students created a circuit representing the direct control of a single-acting cylinder. For the second exercise, they enhanced their circuit by adding a one-way adjustable flow control to regulate the cylinder's speed. Thank you, Rick, for assisting with this hands-on experience.
With only 45 minutes to complete the challenge, students demonstrated great problem-solving, teamwork, and technical skills throughout the activity.
It was a fantastic day of experiential learning, and we were impressed by the students' engagement and enthusiasm. Thank you to everyone who participated!
