Today, we proudly celebrated the official opening of the Indigenous Outdoor Space at Lambton College.

This meaningful space was shaped through the vision and dedication of the Indigenous Outdoor Space Steering Committee, including current Indigenous students, Indigenous alumni, the Indigenous Education Council at Lambton College, an Elder, and a Knowledge Keeper, who invested hundreds of hours into its purpose, vision, and design.

The Indigenous Outdoor Space will support Indigenous learners, Indigenous education programming, Indigenous-focused professional development to develop cultural competency, and building partnerships with Indigenous communities.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this important milestone

Join us for the Indigenous Outdoor Space Grand Opening tomorrow (Thursday, June 18) from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

🪶 The celebration will feature special remarks, traditional drumming, tours of the space, and local vendors.

This is a rain or shine event. If weather requires it, formal remarks will take place indoors. Guests are encouraged to bring an umbrella, as we will still visit the Indigenous Outdoor Space as part of the celebration.

We look forward to welcoming the community as we open this important, purposeful space in support of Indigenous learners.

June is Indigenous History Month, a time to honour the histories, cultures, achievements, and resilience of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.🪶

Today at Lambton College, we raised the Survivors’ Flag as a symbol of remembrance, reflection, and reconciliation.

This photo is a look back at the groundbreaking ceremony of our Indigenous Outdoor Space (IOS), which we are now ready to officially open.

Join us for the Indigenous Outdoor Space Grand Opening on Thursday, June 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., featuring special remarks, traditional drumming, tours, and local vendors.
