Ailah Carpenter (BFA'26) sees art as a way to know themselves and make a mark on the world.

The 25-year-old Two-Spirit artist graduated on Tuesday at USask's 2026 Spring Convocation with a BFA (honours) in studio art. Their artwork has already been in the national spotlight several times.

Ailah—a member of Stanley Mission (Lac La Ronge Indian Band) who was born in Regina and made Prince Albert home—is in demand as a commissioned artist. But they prefer to work on subjects they find personally meaningful and that contribute to positive change: things like Indigenous sovereignty and supporting people out of dark spaces.

Congratulations to Marcia Little, an Indigenous student and single parent, who graduated at yesterday's Spring Convocation!

“Attending university has aided me in rewriting and reframing my stories of trauma and embracing my healing journey. There was a lot to unpack, and I wrote about these experiences in my papers throughout the years,” she said. “That’s what kept me going. I was like, ‘Well, someone has to do it and be that cycle breaker in ending intergenerational trauma.’”

Marcia crossed the stage to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology (with distinction) and a minor in studio arts.

Marcia Little will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (with Distinction) at the 2026 USask Spring Convocation.

The path Emily Zbaraschuk chose at the University of Saskatchewan (USask) led her to have a better understanding of literature, history and herself.

“Humanities are so, so important for understanding our place in the world, regardless of whether we’re studying literature from yesterday, or 1,000 years ago,” she said.

Emily will be graduating at next week's USask Spring Convocation with two Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degrees: one in English and the other in Classical, Medieval and Renaissance Studies (CMRS).
