Social Accountability & Selfhood, by John Shotter:

"This book matters because it challenges us not to treat either the self or accountability as abstract ideas. Shotter keeps pulling us back into the lived, relational world, where who we are is shaped through our interactions with others. For me, that is crucial.

His thesis moves us away from tidy theories towards the messy, dialogical practices. Such movement reminds us that this is where relational responsibility actually takes shape. It reminds me that leadership, theology, and community are not first ideas to be defined, but ways of being formed with and for others."
- Deacon Dr. Richard Manley-Tannis

Convocation is getting close!

Around St. Andrew’s College, the signs are everywhere: gowns, hoods, diplomas, seals, programs, lists, and all the small details that help mark a very significant day.

For SAC, Convocation is not just a ceremony. It is a moment to give thanks to God for students who have studied, wrestled, prayed, questioned, grown, and prepared for lives of ministry, leadership, and service.

Theological education at St. Andrew’s has always been about more than classrooms and coursework. It is about forming people for the church and the world. It is about learning that becomes wisdom, faith that becomes practice, and calling that takes shape in real communities.

We give thanks to God for the work already completed, the work still being prepared, and the joy of celebrating together soon.

St. Andrew’s College was grateful to be present with Mayfair United Church as the congregation marked its 100th anniversary.

The service celebrated Mayfair’s long relationship with the Mayfair community and the congregation’s contributions to neighbourhood life across generations. Greetings from previous ministers, shared from the pulpit and by video, helped honour the many leaders who have shaped Mayfair’s ministry over the years.

Dr. Bernon Lee represented St. Andrew’s College during the service and shared in the celebration of the communion liturgy.

Occasions like this matter to the College. Theological education is not separate from the life of local congregations. It is shaped by communities where people worship, serve, learn, grieve, celebrate, and practice ministry together.

Congratulations to Mayfair United Church on 100 years of ministry.

St. Andrew’s College faculty are contributing to critical conversations shaping the future of the church.

Decolonizing Church: Emerging Voices Speak, co-edited by SAC faculty member Rev. Dr. Becca Whitla and Rev. Dr. Néstor Medina, was officially launched on April 22 at the Church of St. Stephen-in-the-Fields in Toronto.

The launch brought together contributors from across the project for an interactive evening of presentations and discussion. Participants moved through a series of stations where authors shared insights from their chapters, followed by a panel conversation.

This work reflects the kind of theological leadership fostered at St. Andrew’s College. It engages real questions facing the church today and contributes to ongoing conversations around decolonization, theology, and practice.

The Saskatoon Theological Union gathered this April for a two-day Forum focused on shaping the future of theological education in our shared context.

Over April 21–22, participants engaged in worship, collaborative design, and deep conversation around mission, values, and the possibility of further integration. The Forum created space not only for strategic work, but also for relationship-building across our ecumenical community.

From presentations on current realities to hands-on prototyping sessions, the schedule reflected a commitment to thoughtful discernment and shared leadership.

We are grateful for the leadership of convenor Laureen Wray, for our faithful board members, for our students, for our faculty, and for our administrative team. You all contributed to this important work.

This past Sunday, St. Andrew’s College was present with the congregation at The United Church in Meadowood in Winnipeg.

Principal Richard Manley-Tannis joined the community for worship as part of our College’s ongoing College Sunday practice.

These visits remain a simple but meaningful way of staying connected to the life of the church. They place theological education alongside the realities of local ministry, where faith is lived out week by week.

Alongside in-person visits, the College continues to share a growing library of worship resources for communities engaging this work in their own contexts.

We are grateful for the welcome offered by the Meadowood congregation, and for the opportunity to share in their worship.
