Spotlight on the Newman 100: Newman Anniversary Lecture🔦

Dr. Michael Higgins will be presenting a lecture from his research titled, “Illuminating Newman: Personal Reflections on an Enduring Presence” on October 1st at 7:00 pm in the Fr. O’Donnell Auditorium.

Dr. Higgins is a preeminent scholar who has served as a teacher, writer, documentarian, university president, and public speaker. Dr. Higgins has authored and co-authored several books including one on John Henry Newman titled The Church Needs the Laity: the Wisdom of John Henry Newman. Currently, Dr. Higgins serves as the Basilian Distinguished Fellow of Contemporary Catholic Thought at the University of St. Michael’s College in Toronto, and the President and Vice-Chancellor Emeritus of St. Jerome’s University.

Souper Tuesdays are back at St. Thomas More College, with hungry students welcome to stop by and enjoy free soup and bun courtesy, of the College. The delicious meals are cheerfully served every second Tuesday by members of the staff and faculty of STM. The soup is on beginning at 11:30 am, and runs while supplies last, so come early! The next Souper Tuesdays are on Sept. 22, Oct. 6, Oct. 20, Nov. 3, Nov. 17, and Dec. 1. The popular event will also be back in the Winter Term. All are welcome!

Ukrainka Garden Anniversary Event

A Celebration marking:

50th anniversary of the gifting of the Lesya Ukrainka statue on campus

135 years of Ukrainian settlement in Canada
Announcement St. Thomas More College (STM) Lesya Ukrainka Chair in Ukrainian Studies

Following a short program, light refreshments will be served in Room G3 inside the Murray Library.

Join us in the garden surrounding the statue near the Bowl. Located between Murray Library and the Arts Building, the site is accessible from the main campus walkways via Wiggins Rd.

Parking: Lot F across from Education is free and open on Saturday the 19th; Lot 1 across from Place Riel is a pay lot and the closest to the Murray Library.
