Last December, we announced that the Sunshine Coast | ḵálax̱-ay campus building would be closing on April 24, 2026. The closure is one of several decisions made to address CapU’s projected budget deficit as the university continues to feel the impact of last year’s international education policy changes.

Consultation between the university, employees and the unions is currently underway to ensure that academic programming at kálax-ay will continue, despite the closure of the building. Applications are open for ABE, ECCE, HCA and CDO courses. The she shashishalhem (Sechelt language) courses, and the Language and Culture certificate, will also continue.

Details on Fall 2026 course offerings and delivery modes (online or in person) will be available by May 15. For questions, please reach out to Brad Martin, dean, [email protected].

WEAR PINK ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 28

|

Let's Lift Each Other Up to celebrate the diversity in our communities by supporting greater acceptance, respect and inclusion for everyone. It's important that we all stand up against any kind of bullying every day, all year long!

Don't have a pink shirt? Buy yours at the CapU Bookstore ($35)

The year, the bookstore is working with The Get REAL Movement—a Canadian non-profit offering educational workshops, leadership development and after school programs focused on combatting 2SLGBTQ+ discrimination, racism and bullying in schools, summer camps and workplaces. Shirts come in sizes small to 2XL and 4XL.
