Bishop’s University is saddened by the passing of Mr. Stephen A. Jarislowsky, whose remarkable contributions as a business leader, philanthropist, and champion of higher education had a profound impact across Quebec and Canada.

Through the Jarislowsky Foundation, he supported the creation of more than 50 endowed chairs at universities and institutions across the country, including the Stephen A. Jarislowsky Chair in Undergraduate Teaching Excellence at Bishop’s.

We extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.

We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Roberta Bondar for an inspiring presentation as part of the 2026–2027 Donald Lecture Series, marking the beginning of a new season of engaging conversations and shared learning.

As the first Canadian woman and the first neurologist in space, Dr. Bondar is internationally recognized for her groundbreaking contributions to space medicine, environmental education, and photography. A respected leader in the medical and scientific communities, she is also a passionate advocate for environmental stewardship through her work as Co-founder and President of the Roberta Bondar Foundation, which inspires deeper connections with nature through photography.

The Donald Lecture Series, made possible through the generous support of Bishop’s alumnus John Donald ’60, DCL ’12, brings influential voices from Canada and around the world to our community through free public lectures. Its mission is to foster meaningful dialogue, broaden perspectives, and connect people around important issues shaping our world.
