This week the Education Library welcomed local author Rebecca Gladney. She read from her new self published Chirp books to the MUN Daycare kids and the pre-service teachers in Dr. Jan Buley's class.

Rebecca was engaging, creative and interesting for participants of all ages. It was a rousing session with laughter, music, exploration, and practical exposure for new Teachers to young children in an education session. We enjoyed a masterful storytime by Rebecca that was facilitated by Dr. Jan Buley and Courtney Crocker, our Education Librarian. We also welcomed our new Associate Dean of Libraries, Kate Rose. Afterwards, we shared light refreshments and the students gushed that they would like to have more hands on experiences like this throughout their courses.

The MUN Daycare kids and their teachers were so well behaved and appreciative, you might say it was their first MUN recruiting experience.

It was an excellent session sponsored by the Dean of the MUN Faculty of Education Pam Osmond. Thank You!

Make Trans History With Us!

Ever wanted to try your hand at zine-making? Join Trans Support NL and the NL Q***r Research Initiative at the MUN Education Library to create something together.

We're making a trans history zine, celebrating those who came before us, and the everyday trans people making history now, just by being themselves.

This will also be a great opportunity to learn more about trans history in NL and beyond as Rhea Rollmann will be speaking at the event!

No skills required. All materials provided. Just bring your creativity!

Children's literature is best enjoyed read aloud. These were some of the favourite books chosen by students in ED 3322, rural cohort.

Courtney Crocker, Education Librarian, couldn't resist sharing her favourite new book by Librarian Mychal Threets I'm So Happy You're Here!

📚The new Rural Cohort class of ED 3322 - Children's Literature in the Primary/ Elementary School - welcomed talented local author Xavier Michael Campbell. Our Librarian, Courtney Crocker, is teaching this course during Intercession. She invited Xavier to share his book with the class. He lead an engaging read aloud of his beautiful new children's book, A Single Dreadlock. It was a real treat for these new teachers.

You can find this book and many others at the Education Library as part of our Children's Literature Collection to support pre-service Teachers.

Faculty, Staff and Students are also welcome to share these great picture books with their families.

Liza-Ann is away enjoying APLA - Atlantic Provinces Library Association annual conference in Dartmouth. A huge highlight was a session on Collaboration across generations with very different priority and lense. Past Dean of Libraries Sue Cleyle presented with her daughter Thea who is now in Library School. Such a great conversation. Much love to CUPE and Mun Libraries for supporting this opportunity.
