Take the mystery out of math education! Join the Signal Education Research Network for a free virtual talk with mathematics teaching expert Anna Stokke.

Understanding how students learn can help guide effective mathematics teaching. This session connects research with practice, focusing on working-memory limits and the instructional hierarchy, which helps explain how math skills develop through predictable stages. The presentation will discuss why fluency with foundational math topics matters for learning more complex math and what evidence-based mathematics instruction looks like in practice. Participants will leave with a clear, research-backed framework for what effective math teaching involves, and why it matters.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of celebrating students named to the MUN Faculty of Education Dean’s List for 2025-2026!

Being named to the Dean’s List at Memorial University is a significant academic distinction which recognizes undergraduate students with the highest academic averages in their respective units. In total, 57 undergraduate students in the Faculty of Education were named to the Dean’s List for the 2025-2026 academic year.

We are confident that these students will continue to make meaningful contributions to the Faculty of Education, to Memorial University, and to schools and communities across Newfoundland and Labrador and beyond.

Congratulations once again to this year’s recipients!
