BIG DAY AT SIGNAL HILL CAMPUS with the retirement of CEP Officer Kevin Howard !

Colleages, co-workers, friends, and family gathered in Conference Hall 2007A to celebrate his contribution to the University community. Dozens of people shared memories and sent well-wishes via custom note cards, made in the likeness of CEP Badge 024, Kevin's badge.

Among Kevin's gifts was a dwarf Alberta Spruce, decorated with gift cards for some of Kevin's favourite places.

Following special presentations from Protective Services and NAPE, Kevin took the mic and shared his appreciation of everyone he worked with through his career at Memorial, shouting out Signal Hil Campus teams - Genesis, Gardiner Centre, Red Oak, his 'other family' - Memorial University - Conference and Event Services, the grad student residents of Memorial, and to wife Kim who woke with him 5:30 am on the daily!

As all who know him know, Kevin's retirement doesn't mean Kevin is stopping. He's looking forward to a new gig, and has promised to keep us posted!

Thank you, congrats, and good luck Kevin! We will miss you your warm good morning greetings!

Just a few more days to apply!

There’s still time to apply for CITL’s Teaching Skills Enhancement Program (TSEP) for Graduate Students—but the deadline is approaching!

TSEP helps Memorial University, Newfoundland and Labrador graduate students develop practical teaching skills through training, mentorship and hands-on experience. Participants who complete the free program receive a certificate, an official transcript notation and feedback from a teaching mentor.

Apply by Aug. 27 at 11:59 p.m. Spaces are limited.

⚽️⚽️⚽️- When the World Cup is on and the people in your little neighbourhood community are from all over the world, you've just got to get together! That's what grad students at Signal Hill Campus did when the World Cup final was on! Reps from Brazil, Canada, China, Egypt, India, Iran, France, Germany, Jamaica, United States, Vietnam were all in the room, eyes on the screen, some happier than others but all enjoying the spirit and the snacks!

- Members of the Signal Hill Campus community from Conference and Event Services and Gardiner Centre were happy to step up on the Pride Steps at Emera Innovation Exchange in recognition of the St. John's Pride Festival July 8-19.

- Students at Signal Hill Campus love living overlooking the North Atlantic, but many of its treasures - like the capelin and the swimming - aren't happening in the Harbour.

For the capelin, Daniel found that Middle Cove at sunrise is the place to be. As for the swimming, it was close (!), but Topsail Beach in August will allow for a slightly more leisurely swim!
