The Department of Philosophy at Memorial University is a vibrant community of scholars actively researching in a variety of areas
of philosophy in the heritage city of St. John’s, Newfoundland. We lead research in the history of philosophy, continental philosophy, and political philosophy, as well as other areas. Our regular events include a weekly colloquium, guest lecture series, and of course,

Dear all,

We’re excited to announce that the MUN Philosophy Colloquium Series will begin in the last week of February! Every Wednesday at 4 pm, from February 26 until April 9, a speaker will present their philosophical research to the broader philosophical community in a formal lecture (about 45 minutes), followed by a 30-minute Q&A and open discussion. There will also be 15 minutes before and after each session for casual conversations. Doors will open at 3:45 pm and close by 5:45 pm.

All sessions will take place at the Nexus Centre (SN4022) and will also be available virtually via WebEx at https://mun.webex.com/meet/iaksoy.

Refreshments will be served at each session.

Hey Folks! Come out and join us for the last St. John’s Public Lecture in Philosophy for this semester on March 26th!

This public lecture will be given by Dr. Michael Kirkpatrick from the department of History, titled: “On the Perennial Crisis: Jordan B. Peterson and the Problem of Masculinity”

As last time, we’ll be at the Peter Easton Pub at 8 pm on the 26th. Hope to see you there!

Hey Folks! Due to the crazy amount of snow we got yesterday, we’ve had to cancel tonight’s mixer and reschedule it for next Saturday, March 16th. Apologies for all those that were looking to attend the mixer tonight, but we hope you all can join us next week! Please let other people know that the mixer is rescheduled. Stay safe folks!
