English Language Studies at KPU welcomes newcomers to Canada and international students. If English is not your first language and you need to improve your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, our ESL and academic preparation courses will help you. Whether you are a recent high school student, a university graduate or a professional, our goal is to prepare you for success in your university studies or career.

PCIEN is a unique course that is team-taught by an ELS faculty member and an instructor from the Faculty of Health. It has been specially designed for pre-licensure IENs looking to improve their communication skills before working as a nurse in BC.

During this 13-week course, you will have a chance to practice your professional communication skills with standardized patients (actors) who are trained to help with your communication goals.

✔️KPU’s English Language Studies department offers courses in academic listening/speaking, and reading/writing.

💡Learn more about KPU’s English Language Studies (ELS) program, and how we can help you prepare for university studies!

In this online meeting, one of our instructors will be there to share information about courses you can take to improve your academic English skills.

The hosts will also share tips and tricks about applying to ELS.

🎉 We are pleased to announce that English Language Studies (ELS) at KPU is now accepting CLBPT scores!

‼️To start taking KPU ELS classes, you can prove your English proficiency using scores from IELTS, DET (Duolingo), CAEL, TOEFL iBT, PTE (Pearson Test of English)… and now CLBT (Canada Language Benchmarks Placement Testing)!

Apply to ELS today to:

✔️Enhance English communication skills for university success

✔️Improve career-related writing and speaking skills
