As a TechTeam Leader, you will provide support and guidance to incoming SIAT students. This is a great opportunity for you to mentor new students as they transition into university, while gaining valuable leadership and career transferable skills.⁠

During the summer semester, successful applicants will help with Course Planning 101 and plan the Fall 2025 TechTeam sessions. During the Fall, they will co-facilitate weekly TechTeam sessions and be responsible for a group of student mentees. ⁠

This opportunity is open to all SIAT students and includes an honorarium awarded at the end of the Fall semester.⁠

Researchers from the School of Interactive Arts & Technology (SIAT) had a major presence at the 2026 ACM Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI) in Barcelona, the premier international conference of Human-Computer Interaction.

Seven full papers (including a Best Paper Award winner!), four extended abstracts, and three workshop papers. On top of all that, several SIAT researchers also led conference workshops and meet-ups throughout the week.

We are excited to share that SIAT Associate Professor Gabriela Aceves-Sepúlveda will be a visiting professor at ITESO, Universidad Jesuita de Guadalajara, from April to June 2026 as part of the Faculty Mobility for Partnership Program from Global Affairs Canada and SFU International.

During her stay, Professor Aceves-Sepúlveda will be meeting with professors and students in the Art and Creation program, as well as Graduate students from the Culture and Communication Program and the faculties of Sociocultural Studies, Center of Cultural Promotion and Design, to promote exchanges between SIAT SFU and ITESO.
