A new educational video series is helping young people picture themselves in the skilled trades.

That Could Be Me introduces Canadian students to Red Seal trades through real stories from students and tradespeople, giving them a closer look at the work, training and career opportunities available.
The series premiered during the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum’s National Apprenticeship Conference 2026 in Whistler and will be available in classrooms this fall.

A new study is highlighting the value of union labour on construction projects in B.C. and Alberta.
Research by Independent Project Analysis found that union labour was more productive, construction labour costs were lower, and total project costs were reduced, while labour shortages affecting cost or schedule were reported far less often on union projects.
