Scott Moir Memorial Award:
This scholarship has been created in memory of Dr Scott Moir, Associate Professor at Cape Breton University, whom we lost too soon in May of this year.
Scott was a beloved colleague, an inspiration to his students, and a stalwart defender and champion of CBUFA. Many of us remember him, striding the picket lines in his kilt in the snow, or charging through the halls in full medieval armour. Among all of us, he is remembered for his generosity, his humour, his warmth, his friendship, his mentorship, and above all, his kindness.
In his memory, CBUFA has created a new in-course scholarship awarded from the CBUFA aggregate scholarship fund. The Scott Moir Memorial Award will be offered yearly in the amount of $2500 to one full-time student enrolled in any four-year degree program in the School of Arts and Social Sciences. In memory of Scott’s love of immersive learning, the recipient will excel in an experiential learning activity or assignment, and show commitment to the improvement of the university and/or community well-being. Special consideration will be given to students interested in history, but not closed to deserving students in other areas who fulfill the other requirements.
We hope that by establishing this scholarship, CBUFA can both honour his memory and keep his passion for teaching alive in the halls of CBU.
