Join us in exploring Nassau, Bahamas as a creative industry professional. Application in our bio!

Application Deadline: March 1st @ 11:59pm
Estimated Cost: $2,550

This co-curricular opportunity invites you to engage deeply with Nassau’s communities, ecologies, and lived histories—while strengthening your own professional practice through hands-on learning designed for students working in all media and creative disciplines. This international workshop series, hosted by Baha Mar Foundation, in collaboration with the International Programs & Collaborations Office (IPCO) at OCAD University and I.C.E. (Incubator for Collaborative Expression), invites students to move beyond tourism and fully engage with the island’s community, environment, and vibrant creative landscape.
This two-week co-curricular program goes beyond observation by fully immersing you in the Bahamian artistic and cultural scene. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet and learn directly from local artists, community members, entrepreneurs, and conservation specialists. Over the course of the twelve days, you will create a collaborative artwork with your peers that reflects your experience in Nassau. You will have hands on experience working with media such as printmaking, sculpture, and designing with recycled materials. The final rendition of the artwork will be exhibited at Fuze Caribbean Art Fair in Fall 2026. By the end, you’ll walk away with new insights and perspectives that you will be able to apply in your creative and professional practice in meaningful ways long after the experience.

Our final throwback of the month! 🌎✨ Celebrating the creative projects and global collaborations that inspire our work—past, present, and future.

Throwback to the Stones Across Cultures initiative—an international collaboration between OCAD University’s International Programs & Collaborations Office (IPCO), Professor Emeritus Kouan Hashimoto of Joshibi University of Art & Design, and students across multiple OCAD U programs.

Beginning in December 2024, OCAD U students collected stones in Canada and sent them to Japan, where Professor Hashimoto transformed them into natural inorganic pigments using techniques refined over 35 years of research. These pigments returned to OCAD University for a hands-on workshop in March 2025, led by Jasmine Cardenas, where students explored sustainable methods of working with clay, slip, and natural colour.
In May 2025, this collaboration expanded to Expo 2025 Osaka, where IPCO representatives joined colleagues from Joshibi University at the Jellyfish Pavilion. Together, they facilitated creative activities—such as natural pigment fan painting and shoelace dyeing—for visitors from around the world.

A recognition ceremony at the Canada Pavilion further celebrated the longstanding partnership between OCAD University and Joshibi University, rooted in sustainability, material research, and cultural exchange.

OCAD University extends its sincere gratitude to Professor Hashimoto, our Joshibi partners, and the Canada Pavilion team for their generous support. This initiative continues to demonstrate the value of global collaboration in advancing sustainable and innovative artistic practice.

🌊 Another has come!

Last year, 51 students from OCAD University and the University of Monterrey (Mexico) came together for “The Unfolding Future of Water” — a collaborative speculative design project led by Dr. Kazmy Chi (UDEM), Nicholas Puckett, and Immony Men (OCAD U). The exhibition was held at the Cultural Institute of Mexico in Montreal, organized by the Mexican Consulate, from January to February this year.
This project aimed to design future-focused objects and habitats to address issues such as water scarcity and sustainability. Meanwhile, the public was invited to participate in the project to contribute ideas for possible solutions to this global issue. 🌎
