Last month, we held the new iSkills workshop “Beading Our Relations: Stitching Story, Memory, and Métis Practice”! Faculty of Information PhD Candidate Andrew Wiebe introduced students to the fundamentals of Métis seed beadwork through the creation of earrings and flat stitch brooches. Alongside this hands-on work, students engaged with the historical and cultural significance of beadwork in Métis communities and reflected on how creative practices can carry and convey cultural knowledge.
