This week is our nomination period for the 2025-2025 YGSE council. The positions are listed below. All graduate students in the Faculty of Education are eligible to self-nominate for these roles. You can find detailed descriptions of each position [https://ygse.info.yorku.ca/ygse-council-positions/] or in the YGSE constitution (https://ygse.info.yorku.ca/files/2024/05/York-University-Graduate-Students-in-Education-Constitution-2023.pdf?x72547), except as marked with an asterisk(*) and noted below.
Please nominate yourself for up to two of these positions by emailing the Election Officer at [email protected] (copied on this email) by no later than 10am Friday 19th September. Include "YGSE NOMINATION" in your subject line. In your email, for each position for which you are self-nominating, please include the position title and a 1-paragraph rationale for why you'd be a great candidate (e.g. what you hope to bring to the role - don't over-think this!). You may also include an image/poster to accompany each rationale (e.g. to express your personality or approach).
Following this nomination period, the elections officer will confirm nominee eligibility. If there are no nominations for a role, the elections officer may extend the nominations period into the campaign period. If there are uncontested roles (i.e. candidates do not exceed available positions) the elections officer will acclaim the nominee(s) to these roles. If there are contested roles (i.e. more candidates than available positions), the elections officer will announce an election, including a 1-week campaign period, for contested roles.
