Our new SMART Manufacturing Lab gives Humber Polytechnic students hands-on experience with the technologies that are shaping modern manufacturing. Not in isolation. Not in theory. But as part of a fully integrated system.

Our launch event is more than opening a lab. It is about closing the productivity gap. It is about aligning education with industry. And most importantly, it is about preparing the next generation of skilled professionals who will drive Canada’s manufacturing future forward.

Thank you to our industry partners: Kuka Robotics, DMG Mori, Waybo, and Siemens, for their generous contributions, expertise, and commitment to student success. Their partnership ensures that what our students learn in this lab, reflect the realities of today’s manufacturing floor.

Our Horticulture Apprenticeship and Landscape Technician students built ‘core’ memories as they took part in an a-peeling Apple Tree Grafting Party to support the Humber Lakeshore Heritage Apple Orchard Revitalization Project! 🍎

The Humber Polytechnic Lakeshore Campus is home to a historic apple orchard. Originally planted with apple trees imported from Europe, the orchard has received funding for a long-term revitalization project. 🍏

The goal of this multi-year initiative is to regenerate the heritage orchard while creating opportunities for student learning and community engagement. Scions from the existing heritage trees will be grafted onto new rootstock to preserve the original apple varieties. These grafted trees will be grown and maintained by Humber students as they are trained into young fruit trees. 🌳

After propagation, the existing orchard trees will be removed in coordination with the Humber Arboriculture programs and the City of Toronto. The site will then undergo soil remediation and site rejuvenation in preparation for replanting. 🌳

Landscape students will design the future orchard as part of their Winter 2027 capstone project, with opportunities to help install portions of the design. 🍎

The newly grafted apple trees are expected to be planted back on the site in approximately four years, continuing the orchard’s role as a heritage landscape and educational resource. 🍏

When women thrive, we all rise.

We hosted an inspiring afternoon to Champion Women in STEM and align with the global International Women’s Day theme Give to Gain that recognizes when we give, we all gain. Our panel of extraordinary women shared their authentic stories with the Humber Polytechnic community and more than 70 high school students who leaned in with curiousity and excitement.

This weekend, we celebrate the leaders, makers, engineers, designers, innovators and changemakers.

Happy International Women’s Day! 💜

The Humber community came together to honour the third cohort of Schulich Builders scholarship recipients – exceptional skilled trades students whose lives and futures are being shaped by The Schulich Foundation’s generosity.

Through the Schulich Builders initiative, The Schulich Foundation is removing barriers, opening doors, and affirming the value and importance of skilled trades education. To date, the foundation has provided a total of $875,000 to Humber Polytechnic.

We are deeply grateful to the Schulich Foundation for their continued partnership and shared commitment to strengthening communities and addressing Ontario’s skilled trades shortage.
