Earlier this week, we were honoured to host hockey legend Mats Sundin and members of the University of Toronto and Karolinska Institutet communities for a reception celebrating the second cohort of Mats Sundin Fellows in Human Developmental Health.

Made possible largely through Sundin’s philanthropic support, the two-way fellowships reflect his deep ties to both Canada and Sweden, and build on the two institutions’ longstanding International Exchange in Developmental and Perinatal Biology (which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year).

Delphine Ji and Roberto Ballarino will spend two years immersed in a new research environment, working with the guidance and mentorship of principal investigators at their host institutions as they pursue research examining how conditions and exposures in the first 2,000 days following conception shape health across the lifespan.
