Following National Canoe Day, TRSM hosted a special event celebrating the history, cultural significance and lasting impact of the canoe in Indigenous trade and relationships across Turtle Island.
Mi’kmaw artisan Todd Labrador, creator of the birch bark canoe displayed in the TRSM building, shared teachings, family history and insights into his work preserving traditional canoe building as an important form of Indigenous cultural heritage.
