Hi everyone!
The BEE Lab is in the final phase of recruitment for our daily diary study on the effect of pets on teen stress and affect — and we urgently need your help.
We’re looking to recruit at least 15 more participants. Recruitment will continue through December, and the next cohort will complete a 2-week session in mid-January. This will likely be our final cohort.

Who can participate?
🐾 Teens ages 13–17
🐾 Must own a pet of any kind
🐾 Must live in North America
What’s involved?
📅 One short daily survey for 14 days
🎁 Participants receive a $100 gift card after completing all surveys
If you’re able to share our recruitment poster or study information with your networks — friends, family, community groups, or other Facebook groups — it would help us immensely. These last 15 participants are crucial for our study, and we’d be so grateful for your support.
Thank you so much!

We’re Recruiting Families with Kids Aged 7-12 for a Study on Pets and Empathy! 🐶🐱

Hi everyone! Do you have a child between the ages of 7 and 12?
Whether you have pets or not, we’d love to invite your family to participate in an exciting online study with the Brain and Early Experiences Lab at Toronto Metropolitan University!

Our study explores how pet ownership might impact empathy in children. We’re looking for both pet-owning and non-pet-owning families to take part. You and your child will complete a series of online surveys (approx. 15-60 minutes per session) at three different time points. If your child has a pet, you’ll also meet online with a researcher for a short 30-minute visit where your child can talk about their pet. 🐾

✨ What’s in it for you?
- A certificate of participation 🏆
- A $10 Amazon or PetSmart gift card as a thank-you 🎁
- The chance to contribute to important research on children’s emotional development! 💖

Interested or want to learn more? Please reach out to us at beelab [at] torontomu [dot] ca or at our page: https://www.facebook.com/TMUbeelab. We’re happy to answer any questions!

Thank you for helping us advance science and better understand the bond between children and animals. 🐾💕
