I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! These colourful ice cream paintings were made by our Grade 4-6 and 6-8 “Drawing and Painting” classes. For this project, we learned about painting 3D shapes and how to shade using colour. These delicious cones were made by Jemima L (Gr7), Eloise D (Gr6), Cara M (Gr4), Victoria S (Gr4), Imogen S (Gr5), and Jacob K (Gr5). Fantastic work, everyone!

Spooky Season is upon us, and that just means more fun ways for us to learn about the ! Today our Saturday Grade 1-3 classes learned about patterns by creating beautiful spider webs with white pencil on black paper. We filled the different sections of our spider webs with our own patterns to create beautiful mosaics. We topped it all off with a brightly coloured orb weaver spider! Did you know that we offer adult art classes? Our adult classes are a great way to learn new skills and techniques in a relaxed and supportive environment. Have you noticed that the squirrels have been acting a little strange lately? It’s that time of the year when they are furiously hoarding nuts for the winter! Today, our Grade 1-3 “Drawing & Painting” class put the finishing touches on their squirrel themed . We absolutely love these cheeky red squirrels by Grade 3 artists Luke Z and Sadie A. ‘Tis the season of festive gourds! Today our Grade 1-3 ushered in October with a lesson on shading and blending with oil pastels. We drew on our knowledge of for this project and started our pumpkins off with blue shadows. We added layers of warm colours on top to create these realistic masterpieces. September 30th is Truth and Reconciliation Day – a day honouring residential school survivors, their families, and those who never made it home. In honour of this occasion, our Saturday class learned about renowned Anishinaabe Canadian artist Norval Morrisseau. Known as the Picasso of the North and founder of the Woodlands school of Canadian art, Morrisseau created works depicting the legends of his people, his deep spirituality and mysticism, and his personal struggles as a residential school survivor. This painted paper and paint marker collage inspired by Morrisseau’s paintings was made by grade 2 artist Ella B.
