Le week-end du 15 et 16 juin, l’équipe d’EcoMatch a eu le plaisir de co-animer, avec la professeure Valérie Grandbois, la fin de semaine de présentation à la concentration d’entrepreneuriat technologique du programme de génie mécanique de l'Université de Sherbrooke.

Dans le cadre du cours ING640, nous avons développé un atelier d’idéation sur les enjeux environnementaux mondiaux, basé sur notre expérience acquise par l’écosystème entrepreneurial de Sherbrooke. Cette opportunité d'engager des étudiants en génie dans la lutte contre la crise environnementale reflète nos valeurs fondamentales. 🌎

« Les personnes étudiantes ont mis le doigt sur des enjeux et des problèmes spécifiques pour lesquels des pistes de solutions ingénieuses ont été envisagées. Je ne serais pas surprise de voir des projets se concrétiser à partir des idées lancées lors de ce weekend. », a déclaré Pr Grandbois.

On the weekend of June 15th and 16th, the EcoMatch team had the pleasure of co-hosting, alongside Professor Valérie Grandbois, the presentation weekend for the technological entrepreneurship concentration of the mechanical engineering program at the University of Sherbrooke.

As part of the ING640 course, we developed an ideation workshop on global environmental issues, based on our experience gained from the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Sherbrooke. This opportunity to engage engineering students in the fight against the environmental crisis reflects our core values. 🌎

“The students identified specific issues and problems for which ingenious solutions were considered. I wouldn’t be surprised to see projects materialize from the ideas generated during this weekend,” stated Professor Grandbois.

We look forward to reproducing this workshop with future cohorts and thank Professor Grandbois for this wonderful opportunity. In the meantime, here are some action shots from the event. 📸 A recap video will be available soon. 🎬

A couple of weeks ago, EcoMatch’s Co-Founders had the opportunity to attend the Conference on Sustainable Engineering (CSE) at Toronto’s Metropolitan University. Throughout this weekend of learning about sustainable practices across various engineering sectors, from building maintenance to nuclear energy and hydrogen fuel cells, we had the chance to connect with many of our peers at the conference.
AJ Wadouh is definitely someone with whom we had great conversations that we believe would be highly interesting to share with our audience. In this interview, this student leader explains his role as Vice-President and Co-Founder of the Student Energy Chapter at the University of Calgary and his perspectives and approaches regarding student engagement in the energy sector.

Il y a quelques semaines, les cofondateurs d'EcoMatch ont eu l'opportunité d'assister à la conférence sur le développement durable en ingénierie (CDDI) à l'Université Métropolitaine de Toronto. Tout au long de ce week-end d'apprentissage sur les pratiques durables dans différents secteurs de l'ingénierie, de l'entretien des bâtiments à l'énergie nucléaire en passant par les piles à combustible à l'hydrogène, nous avons eu l'occasion de connecter avec plusieurs de nos collègues de la conférence.
AJ Wadouh est certainement quelqu'un avec qui nous avons eu de grandes conversations que nous pensons intéressantes à partager avec notre audience. Today's issue concerns industrial fishing. Here in Quebec, we rely on sea fishing, but did you know that for every fish caught at sea, on average, five other fish are also caught and unfortunately killed or injured in the process? The solution we propose in this video is the development of land-based aquaculture. This solution comes with a variety of logistical and technical challenges that require people like you to address!

La problématique d'aujourd'hui concerne la pêche industrielle. Ici au Québec, nous dépendons de la pêche en mer, mais saviez-vous que pour chaque poisson pêché en mer, en moyenne, cinq autres poissons sont également capturés et malheureusement tués ou blessés dans le processus ? La solution que nous proposons dans cette vidéo est la conception de piscicultures terrestres. Cette solution s'accompagne d'une variété de défis logistiques et techniques qui nécessitent l'implication de personnes comme vous pour être résolus !
