📢 For Ontario students affected by recent OSAP funding restrictions

Students who had already applied for, been assessed for, or been approved for OSAP may have made important educational and financial decisions based on the funding they expected to receive—including starting their programs, reducing work hours, arranging childcare, purchasing textbooks and supplies, and budgeting for tuition and living expenses.

A new petition is calling on the Government of Ontario to:
• Honour OSAP funding for eligible students whose applications were already assessed or approved before the new restrictions took effect
• Create an expedited process to review and release funding for affected students who have already begun their programs
• Provide clear written communication about how currently enrolled students will be affected and what steps they can take
• Ensure students are not financially penalized or forced to withdraw from their education because of changes that occurred after they made commitments based on their OSAP assessment

The petition recognizes that private career colleges must meet provincial standards and that concerns should be investigated. It calls for protecting students who acted in good faith - students who followed the OSAP process and made legitimate educational and financial commitments based on their assessment or approval - while holding institutions accountable where there is evidence of misconduct or failure to meet provincial requirements.

Institutional accountability and student protection can happen at the same time.

If you are affected, or want to support students facing this uncertainty, sign and share the petition.
