Last night, we had the honour of attending the annual NYC Canadian Law School Alumni Event, a reception bringing together alumni from Canada’s leading law schools, along with deans, administrators, and colleagues from across the legal education community in New York, hosted at the New York Athletic Club.

The event included participation from Christopher Essert, Dean and James M. Tory Chair of the Henry N.R. Jackman Faculty of Law, University of Toronto, and it was a pleasure to join colleagues from across Canada in strengthening our academic and professional networks.

Representing the Henry N.R. Jackman Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto, it was a pleasure to connect with colleagues across Canada and contribute to strengthening our academic and professional networks.

What do you learn about yourself in law school?

For 2L student Romina Hajizadeh, it's discovering new areas of law and rethinking where she wants to go. What started as a clear path has evolved into a broader curiosity: “I’ve learned that I’m a lot more curious than I give myself credit for...Being in law school has been like falling in love with different things every single day.”

In Progress follows Jackman Law students over time, capturing their reflections, growth, and experiences year by year.

We were pleased to host an interdisciplinary roundtable on AI and the rule of law last week at the Henry N. R. Jackman Faculty of Law, drawing on Prof. Nathalie Smuha’s recent monograph Algorithmic Rule by Law (CUP, 2025).

The event brought together leading scholars to explore how algorithmic systems are shaping legal frameworks in our digital age.

Thank you to all speakers and participants for such a thoughtful and engaging discussion.
