MTM College of Animation, Art & Design The College Where Careers Begin ® Max the Mutt offers small class size, mentoring and highly qualified instructors who are working professionals.

Founded in 1996 in Toronto, Max the Mutt College of Animation, Art and Design provides three programs of study: Classical and Computer Animation and Production diploma, Concept Art for Animation and Video Games diploma and Illustration for Sequential Arts: Comic Books and Graphic Novels diploma. Max the Mutt prepares students for careers in animation, concept design, advertising, art direction,illustration, comic books and graphic novels.

Alumni Spotlight: Tiffani Brown ✨

From studying Concept Art at MTM to illustrating children’s books and designing for TV animation, Tiffani Brown, brings stories to life through expressive characters, strong shapes, and thoughtful colour.

Her career includes children’s book illustration published by Kids Can Press and animation credits at Nelvana Studios on Esme & Roy and Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go.

Now, she’s reconnecting with the MTM community to teach TWO online masterclasses next month, exploring character design and backgrounds for children’s illustration!

This piece won Sergi Iranzo first place in Ubisoft Toronto NEXT while he was an MTM Concept Art student. Could you be next? 🎮✨

From early sketches to building assets, assembling the scene, painting, and photobashing, Sergi developed this world through a process of exploration and refinement.

His journey took him from studying Concept Art at MTM to working professionally at Ubisoft. Now, he’s returning to share his experience with aspiring artists.

These fantasy characters are all by MTM Concept Art graduate Vlad Craciun, and were featured in his 2025 Rookie Awards entry on

His graduation project, The Six Seas of Wonder, brings a fantastical island world to life through characters such as an illusion-weaving pirate and an apprentice witch.

In our Concept Art program, students develop their drawing, painting, and design skills to create characters, environments, and props for visual storytelling. Vlad’s work shows how imagination and thoughtful design come together.

In his entry, Vlad thanked instructors Scott Cameron and Alan Howell for their mentorship during his time at MTM.

Alumni Spotlight: Brian Zuleta ✨

From MTM Concept Art student to creating worlds for games including Far Cry Primal, Watch Dogs 2, The Division 2, and Starlink: Battle for Atlas.

Brian won Ubisoft Toronto NEXT while studying at MTM, earning a paid apprenticeship that led to a full-time concept art role. His work spans characters, props, and environments, helping shape the look and feel of the worlds players explore.

His advice to aspiring artists? “Practice intentionally, never give up on your goals.”

For many years, Labyrinth Books has partnered with MTM College to bring an annual book sale right to our school, giving our students and community a chance to browse and pick up some amazing art books.

Alumni Spotlight: Rebecca Hunt ✨

From MTM Animation student to professional 2D Layout Artist working across television, with credits including F Is for Family, Saving Me, Red Ketchup, Riley Rocket, and Skillsville.

Rebecca is a Toronto-based illustrator who has spent the past several years working in 2D layout, helping turn storyboards and animatics into finished scenes and layout guides for full episodes. She has also taken on Lead and Assistant Supervisor roles, bringing her experience into larger production responsibilities.

With storytelling as her first love, Rebecca is now expanding her work into illustration, comics, and graphic novels. She recently illustrated The Time Being, a children’s book set to be published in 2027, and hopes to publish her own work in the future.

We’re so proud to see where your skills and storytelling have taken you, Rebecca! ✨
