From the classroom to transforming outdoor spaces across the GTA!

Business Administration alumnus Pawan Rakkar is the founder and owner of Oasis Lawns, a thriving lawn care and landscaping company serving homeowners and businesses throughout the Greater Toronto Area. This summer, Pawan and his team are hard at work elevating local properties through custom landscape design, lawn care, garden renovations, and exterior improvements.

"George Brown played a significant role in my journey as an entrepreneur," Pawan shares. "The knowledge, practical experience, and support I received helped strengthen my business foundation and gave me the confidence to pursue building my own company."

We love seeing our Business Administration alumni take the practical skills they learned at GBP and build thriving, community-first local enterprises. Way to go, Pawan! 🚀

Alumni Relations was excited to connect with Fife Ashley-Dejo, an alumnus of our Digital Product Management program who is building a digital solution to transform how ecosystems connect.

This summer, Fife is using his digital product expertise to develop Pathwai—an innovative community operations system and ecosystem host designed to take the friction out of organizational management.

It’s incredibly exciting to see our Digital Product Management grads tackling high-level operational challenges and translating them into human-centric solutions. Congratulations, Fife!

When cutting-edge technology meets cultural preservation, incredible things happen! Alumni Relations Team is excited to connect with Christopher Pandolfi (left), Stephanie Adams (middle) and Interaction Design program alumnus Hitesh Verma at the Research, Innovation & startGBC Entrepreneurship showcase.

Together, this team is working directly with Algonquin communities to document, preserve, and digitally reconstruct a historic village and log cabin using advanced 3D scanning and immersive technology. And Hitesh brought his specialized skills to support the 3D modelling for the project.

By creating these interactive digital archives, the project ensures that the rich history, architecture, and stories of these communities are preserved with precision for generations to come. Amazing to witness how faculty and alumni are taking their skills beyond the classroom to make a profound, real-world impact. Thank you Christopher, Stephanie, and Hitesh for your meaningful work!

BCom Financial Planning and Services alumna Roxxena Farid is using her expertise to build confidence and financial wellness across Toronto!

This summer, Roxxena is playing a vital role in the city as a Senior Investment Advisor at TD Wealth. She is spending the season helping high-net-worth families, businesses, and organizations navigate complex financial decisions in an evolving market. She is also focused on making financial guidance more meaningful, actively bringing the bank into local events to foster connection and inclusion across Toronto.

For Roxxena, "I felt confident applying what I had learned and built on it quickly. Beyond academics, the sense of community stood out the most."

Meet Milind Bhargava (middle), wireless networking program alumnus, part-time faculty and founder of Mjolnir Security.

Milind represents the ultimate trifecta of alumni impact: Donor, Professor, and Employer.

In the classroom, Since 2017, he has taught part-time and partnered with our School of Computer Technology to give students hands-on security operations training. He is also currently supporting the polytechnic with the Mjolnir Guardian and Mjolnir Vanguard awards, recognizing student excellence in cyber defense, innovation, and leadership.

In the workforce, In Mjolnir Security’s Toronto office, seven out of nine employees are proud George Brown grads! Meet Luis Ricardo Islas Barrueco and Emmanuel Islas Vera, two innovative alumni from our Marketing Management - Digital Media program who are changing the way we travel!

This summer, Luis and Emmanuel are channeling their digital marketing expertise into launching veku - a brilliant platform designed to connect travelers directly with local guides.

Meet Samm Hibbert, a 2025 Construction Engineering Technician graduate and a proud recipient of the Schulich Builder Scholarship!

This summer, Samm is taking her hands-on education straight to the field as a Construction Planner at EllisDon, working on a high-stakes, classified project that will completely transform a major intersection along Yonge Street.

“George Brown has played a major role in preparing me for this career path. The hands-on learning experience and exposure to construction processes and methodologies have already come in handy."
