The Department of Anthropology was established in 1936 and its faculty has consistently included distinguished anthropologists of international renown. Members of the department conduct research on present and past human societies, cultural knowledge and practice, human health and nutrition, evolutionary antecedents of humans, and closely related species. We offer graduate training in socio-cultur

Prof Shiho Satsuka currently has an art coproduction (Research and Story by Satsuka, Animation and Installation by Liu Yi) titled “Matsutake Lead the Way." The animated film is currently displayed in the special exhibition Fungi: Anarchist Designers.

The entire exhibit is an interdisciplinary collaboration and hopes to present fungi as independent organisms and designers. 🍄🍄‍🟫

The exhibit is currently on in Nieuwe Instituut, the National Museum for Architecture, Design and Digital Culture, in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, from November 20, 2025 to August 8. 2026.
