Women in Science and Engineering - University of Toronto (WISE UofT) looks to promote the education of women in the fields of science and engineering.

The University of Toronto’s Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) looks to promote the education of women in the fields of science and engineering. To develop women’s leadership skills, confidence, and involvement in research and technology, WISE focuses on building a supportive community of men and women through a number of initiatives.
• Our Community Outreach Initiative allows us to expand o

ur club outreach into the community at large, through the organization of volunteer based events.
• Our Professional Development Initiative hosts two major networking events during the year with top companies in Entrepreneurship, Sales, Software and IT, Engineering, Medical Affairs, Technology Consulting, Science Consulting, and Pharmaceuticals.
• To encourage high school students to pursue science and engineering at the university level, our High School Outreach Initiative visits high schools across the GTA to educate girls about exciting opportunities they have in post-secondary school.
• To create a network for women across Canada, WISE hosts an Annual National Conference where delegates hear from high-level speakers, participate in diverse workshops, and have the chance to compete in world class competition
• Our WISE Blog creates a forum for sharing experiences and an opportunity to connect with other like-minded individuals.

The Professional Mentorship Program pairs current University of Toronto students with professionals from industry or academia in fields such as computer science, engineering, healthcare, psychology, and much more. ALL areas of study are welcome!

This program offers a valuable opportunity to learn from professionals, receive expert guidance, and build lasting connections.

Have you ever wanted to be a mentor? This is your chance to inspire the next generation of women in STEM with your lived experiences!

WISE is offering undergrad and grad students the opportunity to develop your mentorship and leadership skills through the WISE High School Mentorship Program. Mentors will be able to engage with high school students in the GTA to give advice on university applications, talk about university life, and encourage them to pursue a career in STEM!

Through this program, you will get the chance to have one-on-one sessions with high school mentees, as well as the opportunity to attend four in person events during the semester to connect with other mentors and mentees! This is your chance to make a meaningful impact on students and make lasting connections, while joining the supportive and innovative WISE community.

“Being part of WISE has been one of the most meaningful experiences of our undergrad journeys. We joined during our first years, and now, years later, we are still on the team. Each year, we have chosen to return for the same reasons: the close friendships, the opportunities to be challenged and grow as leaders, and the feeling of being part of something bigger than ourselves.

During our first few years, countless upper-year students generously gave us their time, mentorship, and support. They helped us navigate personal and academic challenges, and many of them remain our close friends today. Although they have all since graduated, we hope to pay that support forward by helping ensure that every new member of our team has the same opportunity to build meaningful friendships, grow personally and professionally, and feel a strong sense of belonging in our community 💜”
