Seneca Smith AIR Term: Aug 24 - Aug 28 2026
Seneca Smith is a communicator, teacher, and lover of science. With experience in both physics and data science, Seneca believes in finding the story within the data to make the obscure relatable and the mundane magical. As the vice-president of the Barbados Astronomical Society, Seneca is passionate about ensuring that everyone has access to the wonders of astronomy, regardless of their background. Currently a secondary school physics teacher, Seneca uses their passions for exploration, photography and making music to continue learning and teaching outside the classroom whenever possible.

Happy Space Science Saturday!

Did you know AICO will be neighbors with a giant sundial later this year? See image for the construction progress so far!

The STAIRS (Schmoyer-Type Adapted Interactive Reliable Sundial) is an over 8-foot tall sundial. The design is based on the “Sunquest Sundial”, invented in 1958 by Richard Schmoyer and 'scaled up' by Dr. R.L Kellogg, Vice President of the North American Sundial Society (NASS). The building of The STAIRS is made possible by the generous donation of Dr. Robert Stairs!
