Call for Applications & Info Session: 2027 Executive Course on Global Health Diplomacy!

The Dalla Lana School of Public Health (DLSPH)'s Centre for Global Health is still accepting applications from Canadian and non-visa-requiring applicants for the 2027 Executive Course in Global Health Diplomacy.

The Executive Course on Global Health Diplomacy is designed for professionals working in health and health-related sectors. The course explores the theory and practice of global health diplomacy as it relates to urgent global health issues and Canada's role in global health negotiations.

The course is co-directed by Garry Aslanyan, DLSPH Adjunct Professor and Manager of Partnerships and Governance at TDR, World Health Organization, and Erica Di Ruggiero, DLSPH Professor and Director of the DLSPH Centre for Global Health.

The Ontario Network Environments for Indigenous Health Research invites you to “Connecting Indigenous Research-to-Policy" hosted at the University of Toronto on Thursday, October 15, 2026!

This event focuses on advancing Indigenous mental health policy, including drop-in knowledge sharing with researchers and a sharing circle led by Indigenous Knowledge Keepers.

⏱️ Time: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
📍 Location: The Great Hall at Hart House, University of Toronto, St. George Campus, (7 Hart House Circle, Toronto, ON M5S 3H3)

This Research-to-Policy Forum is an in-person drop-in event where research findings from across the CIHR-funded Ontario Network Environments for Indigenous Health Research (ON NEIHR) will be presented and discussed with the aim of informing healthy Indigenous mental health policy decisions.

The intended audience is policymakers, researchers, practitioners and representatives from urban, and reserve First Nations, Metis and Inuit governments and organizations, as well as municipal, provincial and federal settler governments.

Join us on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, for an Author Spotlight on “Mother Earth is Our Elder,” a Globe and Mail bestseller that brings together a diverse group of Dene Elders and knowledge carriers on the subject of climate change to answer the calls for help. Adhering proudly to these responsibilities and values, Katłı̨̀ą writes a Dene manifesto fit to address the state of emergency we’re in. With evidence of how this all works for the Dene people, we see how it might work for us all. This generous, pragmatic and hopeful book shows us how to find coexistence with Mother Earth and embrace the wisdom of our local Indigenous communities.

We are proud to share that DLSPH students Samantha Larose-Berry, Altea Kthupi and Sara Bocchinfuso recently received the 2025-2026 Network for Improving Health Systems (NIHS) Trainee Award!

The Network for Improving Health Systems (NIHS) is a collaboration between DLSPH and the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto.

The NIHS Trainee Award provides selected graduate students with $25,000 to support health services and policy research focused on improving the health care system.

This year's recipients will be investigating:
🔵 Comparing Antimicrobial Prescribing by Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Pharmacists: Continuity, Attachment and Stewardship in Alberta Primary Care — Samantha Larose-Berry
🔵 Prescribing with Context: Toward Equitable Prescribing Practices for Older Adults in Ontario — Altea Kthupi
