A major investment in innovation and student research was announced at Progress Campus on May 7.

Mélanie Joly joined Scarborough MPs Michael Coteau and Doly Begum at Centennial College to announce a $165 million federal investment in the College and Community Innovation (CCI) program.

The funding will strengthen applied research partnerships across Canada’s colleges and create more opportunities for students to gain valuable paid research experience, including through the innovative work happening at WIMTACH.

Chocolate skills in action 🍫

Students in Centennial College’s Baking and Pastry Arts Management program recently explored chocolate crystallization through the seed and tablage tempering methods in Baking and Pastry Arts Skill II.

Guided by Chef Sally, students created handcrafted mendiants and chocolate lollies topped with dried cherries and caramelized hazelnuts while continuing to build advanced pastry and confectionery techniques.

From refugee to software developer, Ahmad Al Bouchi’s journey is a powerful reminder of what opportunity, support and determination can achieve.

Through the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) Student Refugee Program, Ahmad arrived in Canada and began building a new future at Centennial College.

Now in his final semester of the Software Engineering Technology program, he’s gained experience in AI research, developed his own projects, and is preparing for the next step in his education and career.

“Centennial helped me to start my life again.”
