We're celebrating Centennial College Autobody student Ethan Almeida, who represented Canada at the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai, China! 🇨🇦

Competing in Autobody Repair from September 22 to 27, Ethan put his technical skills to the test alongside talented competitors from around the world. The competition required participants to repair crash-damaged vehicles while meeting rigorous safety and manufacturing standards.

Although Ethan did not take home a medal, his performance and dedication demonstrated the level of skill and preparation needed to compete internationally.

We're incredibly proud of Ethan for representing Canada, Ontario and Centennial College on the world stage!

She almost didn't participate.

Then she won three awards and received a global nomination.

Centennial College graduate Arshdeep Kaur first registered for the NASA Space Apps Challenge in 2024 but decided not to attend because she felt she wasn't ready. When the challenge returned in 2025, she decided to take it on.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, Arshdeep helped develop an AI and machine learning solution for identifying exoplanets. The experience expanded her professional network and became something employers asked about when she began applying for jobs.

Now, the NASA Space Apps Challenge is returning to Centennial College's Downsview Campus on November 14–15.

You do not need to be a coding or space expert to participate. NASA Space Apps welcomes people of all ages, skill levels and professional backgrounds. Whether you bring technical knowledge, scientific expertise, design skills, storytelling, creativity or simply a willingness to learn, there is a way to contribute.

Our latest Japanese Short Group has officially graduated from Centennial! 🇯🇵🇨🇦

During their three weeks with us, students studied English, explored Toronto and took part in activities throughout the city. They wrapped up their time at Centennial with a graduation ceremony and plenty of memories to take home.

For filmmaker and producer Justin Zoras, a career in film and television started with a camera, a few friends and a love of movies.

As a Broadcasting and Film student at Centennial, Justin gained hands-on production experience, industry exposure and connections that would continue to shape his career. His Centennial internship with Canadian director Bruce McDonald led to a long-term professional relationship, while connections with instructors opened further opportunities after graduation.

Today, Justin is the founder and creative director of Sink Pictures. His career includes nearly a decade working on The Curse of Oak Island, where he contributed to more than 150 episodes, and his latest documentary, The Bookstore That Never Sleeps, which is making its way through the film festival circuit.

His advice to aspiring filmmakers is simple: be a sponge, say yes to opportunities and start creating.

When Christian Bordon moved to Canada as an international student, he knew he wanted to build a career here. He just did not know where that career would take him.

After facing more than 100 job rejections, Christian found an opportunity through Centennial College’s job posting board with B*W International. What began as a three-month event staffing position eventually led to an internship and opened the door to a career in the events industry.

Today, Christian is a National Account Manager, a 2026 Alumni of Distinction recipient and a recognized leader in his field. He also mentors students and emerging professionals who are working to build careers of their own.

Christian’s journey shows how an unexpected opportunity can become the beginning of something much bigger. His advice to students and recent graduates is to stay open to new experiences, build relationships and keep moving forward, even when the path is not always clear.

Today we observe Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It is a vital time for our Centennial College community to pause, reflect and commit to ongoing learning and action.

Orange Shirt Day is rooted in the story of Phyllis Webstad and serves as a powerful reminder of the lasting impacts of the Indian Residential School system in Canada. Wearing an orange shirt is a public commitment to honouring Survivors, remembering the children who never returned home and acknowledging the generational trauma carried by Indigenous families and communities.

As an educational institution we recognize that reconciliation requires active and daily commitment. We encourage our students, faculty and staff to engage and listen to Indigenous voices as well as participate in campus events such as our Eighth Fire Student Learner Gathering at Progress Campus.

What happens when you take software engineering skills out of the classroom and put them to the test?

Centennial College Software Engineering students Aditya Shoor and Milyon Kifleyesus built Transit Lens, an app that visualizes and analyzes TTC data, for the University of Toronto’s Transit Data Challenge.

Working under a tight deadline, the students applied their skills in software engineering, artificial intelligence and application development to solve a real-world problem. Their work earned third place in the challenge and gave them the opportunity to present their project at the 10th International Transit Data Symposium in Toronto.

The experience also gave them a new portfolio project, industry exposure and a chance to see what they can accomplish when they say yes to a new challenge.
