The First Generation program, based in the Community Partnerships Office at George Brown College, serves students who are the first in their families to attend a Post-Secondary institution. It doesn’t matter if you have brothers, sisters or cousins that have gone before you, it’s the generation above you (your parents) that counts. This fact alone makes all the difference and determines if you are
a First Gen student or not. In other words, if your parents or primary caregiver did not received an actual certificate, diploma or degree from an accredited college or university anywhere in the world, then you are officially a First Gen student by being enrolled in a Post-Secondary program right here, right now.
