🎨Vancouver Community College is honoured to receive the inaugural Inspiring Creativity. For Good. Award in the Inspiring Partner category from Arts Umbrella at the Vancouver Playhouse Theatre on May 21.

Through the Arts Umbrella Vancouver Community College Dance Diploma program, our partnership has helped create pathways for young artists pursuing post-secondary education in the performing arts. We’re proud to support students as they build their craft, creativity, and confidence for the next stage of their journey.

Thank you to Arts Umbrella for this recognition and for your continued commitment to empowering young people through arts education and community connection.

❤️ Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Vancouver Community College Broadway campus to show support and reflect during our Red Dress Day vigil.

A special thank you to Mary Genaille-Black for sharing her personal stories and a powerful poem that honours lives lost and brings light to the realities faced by Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people (MMIWG2S+). We also thank Paulena Smith for sharing the practice of Cedar Bark Brushing, as well as the Indian Residential School Survivors Society (IRSSS) for their partnership and dedicated work with the Walking Together Group on Orange Shirt Day presentations.

Days like this really remind us how important it is to keep learning, connecting, and showing up for our community.

🌹Red is a powerful symbol of remembrance, visibility, and solidarity. Today, Vancouver Community College marks the National Day of Awareness for MMIWG2S+ with a community vigil at the Broadway campus (Building B, Level 1) at 11:30 a.m.

Students, staff, and community members are invited to come together in reflection and support. Wearing red is a significant way to show solidarity as a community.

This day offers a space to listen, learn, and stand with Indigenous communities. It is an opportunity to reflect on the importance of awareness and the collective steps needed to move forward together.

🥇 We are incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of our students at the 32nd annual Skills Canada BC competition, where Team VCC earned 25 medals and achieved a podium sweep in secondary autobody repair. These results highlight the dedication and technical expertise our students bring to their crafts, demonstrating the true impact of hands on learning under pressure.

Ten gold medallists will now move on to represent VCC at the national stage in Toronto on May 28 and 29: Totie Li (Baking), Julia Louie (Baking – secondary), Yin Ling (Elaine) Yiu (Esthetics), Maiko Hina (Graphic Design), Eri Jung (Hairstyling), Elina Felgner (Hairstyling – secondary), Gabriel Rizo (Auto Service Technician), Madox Bell (Auto Service Technician – secondary), Harkirat Vilkhu (Car Painting – secondary), and Sy Korf (Autobody Repair – secondary). With returning competitors like last year's silver medallist Eri Jung leading the way, there is much to celebrate as we head to the national competition.
