We believe that meaningful learning happens when diverse voices, ideas, and experiences come together.

That’s why we are excited to launch an Academic Advisory committee, with faculty from across the university, to champion the Learning Exchange’s academic work by sharing ideas, offering advice and building connections.

A big thanks to: Alison Taylor, Andy Binet, Chris Lovato, Heather O’ Brien, Henry Yu, José Rodríguez Núñez, Kayla Lar-Son, Kerry Greer, and Tina Wilson, for forming the inaugural committee.

Come and enjoy the Indigenous Shorts Film Festival at the Vancouver Public Library on Friday, June 5, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

We will meet at the Learning Exchange at 1:00 p.m. and then bus to the VPL Central Branch to watch a selection of short films in recognition of National Indigenous History Month.

This is a great opportunity to learn about the histories, cultures, and experiences of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

Spaces are limited. Please register by email at [email protected], call 604-872-2772 or come by in person to the front desk of the Learning Exchange, located at 612 Main Street.

We have lots of exciting activities planned for June!

Come and enjoy movies at the Indigenous Short Film Festival 🎞️🍿 at the Vancouver Public Library, discover the history of Stanley Park, and watch the Canada World Cup match 🇨🇦🍁 at the Learning Exchange.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided. ☕🍪

Yasuko Tamaki started her journey at the Learning Exchange as a student in the English Conversation Program, later becoming a facilitator leading English conversation sessions, at other times, a leader of special community activities.

Yasuko is now graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Asian Studies and minoring in Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice, and has been accepted into a Master’s program.

Learn more about Yasuko’s experience at the Learning Exchange, as well as her perspective on being a newcomer to Canada and having to learning a new culture.

Join us for a special evening of music with a student string quartet from the UBC School of Music performing a piece composed by a member of the Los Angeles Street Symphony.

After the performance there will be a Q&A where you can learn more about the Street Symphony.
