The UBC Thunderbots are a group of student teams that design, build, and compete robots and artifici Most of these students graduated two years after.

UBC Thunderbots is a design team entirely run by students and comprise of engineering, computer science, and commerce students. Our mission is to build fully autonomous robots to compete at the International RoboCup Competition and Conference. The team started with a small number of students in early 2002. However, since September 2006, a new generation of undergraduate student re-established the

UBC Robot Soccer Team. In the new generation of UBC Thunderbots, members come from a diverse background, ranging from Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Computer Science, etc. Robocup one of the largest international robotics conferences and competitions that brings out leading researches and the brightest students from universities from around the world with over 3000 participants from over 40 different countries. Areas of research and development include Artificial Intelligence (AI), Image Recognition, Control Theory, Robotics and Mechanical Development. More information at www.robocup.org! Website:

Robot soccer → human soccer ⚽🤖

Thunderbots had an amazing time at the Vancouver Whitecaps FC vs. Colorado Rapids game! It was great getting together for a fun social before the RoboCup grind.

From building soccer-playing robots to watching the game live, it was a reminder of why we love the sport so much. Save the Caps! 💙🤍

Recently, members of Thunderbots had the opportunity to visit Foreseeson’s workspace, where we were given a workshop tour and a presentation from their team about the services they offer and the technologies they use. During the visit, we also had the chance to share some of our electrical projects, giving Foreseeson a closer look at the systems behind our robots. ⚡️🌩️

Our team got to see firsthand how their manufacturing processes work and learn more about the engineering and production workflows behind the components they create. In addition to assembling boards for us, Foreseeson has also been supporting Thunderbots through DFM reviews, helping ensure our electrical designs are optimized for reliable production. ⚡️🔋

This workspace tour provided our members with a fantastic opportunity to gain insight into modern manufacturing technologies and a real-world engineering environment. We are extremely grateful to everyone at Foreseeson for their continued support of Thunderbots and for taking the time to share their expertise with our team! 🌩️🤖💙

Thanks so much to Zaber Technologies for being a Gold Sponsor of Thunderbots!

On Friday members were given an in-depth tour of Zaber’a workspace, including guides through the production floor, machine shop and testing chambers, all led by representatives of Zaber’s respective departments. Zaber employs engineers from a range of disciplines, including mechanical, firmware, software, electrical, mechatronics, and production.

This was an incredible opportunity for students to gain some insight into what an engineering workspace is actually like. Again, we super appreciate everyone over at Zaber for their continued support of Thunderbots. ❤️
