Our Story
The UBC Economics Student Association, open to students from all faculties, seeks to bring aspiring fellow students with a collective passion for economics and related global affairs. Here we build a friendly community, sharing of ideas between like-minded students, develop professional connections, establish a reciprocal resource sharing platform, and ultimately enhance active members' potential job prospects. By engaging members with our diversified events, including casual socials where they bond with peers, guest lectures from various professors and speakers, academic sessions where they hone up exam writing readiness and career formal/semi-formal occasions where they implement networking techniques, attendees are expected to be equipped with the experience, resources, and skills to succeed in professional fields.
For first-year students, we intend to provide a supportive environment that involves mentorships from senior economic majors, workshops on how to ace an ECON exam (#Prof. G101), and review sessions for popular ECON courses (#101,102). Additionally, we aim to work alongside VSEUS (Vancouver School of Economics Undergraduate Society) to better connect and engage the economic community here at UBC.
For upper and second-year students, we provide a network and a platform where you can discuss diverse issues of both economic and political importance and also concepts and plans for future careers. There will also be discussions for senior students on 2/3/400 level courses together with external workshops on advance examinations, such as CFA and LSAT, for graduate schools.
Through ECON Club, we believe we can create a comprehensive platform for faculty and students of all affiliations and ultimately foster a bonded community where members can benefit themselves and their peers.
