While our new building undergoes construction, we will continue to gather as a community – in the community. SJC Gatherings will take place approximately twice per term as a way for the SJC community (students, alumni, and staff fellows) to come together to share food, explore new parts of the city, and nurture connections old and new.

Site preparation of our new home in the Lower Mall Precinct (LMP) has begun, with construction set to begin this fall.

Cool fact: Concrete saved from our first SJC building was crushed to be repurposed and laid as the foundation of our new building - reducing demolition waste and planting a piece of our history as we build (literally and figuratively!) our next phase, "SJC 2.0".

Seeing the concept drawings and designs of LMP gets us pretty excited! We look forward to welcoming you to our new home when its doors open 🎉

It has been a lot of change for the SJC community over the past few months. While there are many mixed emotions, gratitude is the one that holds them all. We had the opportunity to reminisce about memories from our first 29 years, give thanks for what this community offered and taught us, say goodbye to our first building, and also dream together about how the SJC spirit can continue strong as we look forward to not just a new building but also expanded opportunities to build community.

During the weekend of April 17-19th, 2026, we welcomed 150 alumni, current and former staff, and friends and family back to SJC to celebrate this historic farewell to our first building, and to honour and look forward to “SJC 2.0”. Whether alumni who lived at SJC in 1997 (while the rest of the building was still being built!), or those who flew halfway around the world from as far as Australia and the UK, or those who just graduated this year: Thank you for gathering with us.

And thank you to our alumni who performed, led activities, and shared photos!

You're in for a treat this Thursday night, November 28th! The Venezeulan singing group "Los Parranderos" is generously returning to share carols and holiday cheer as you wrap up the fall semester. They will also be having dinner at the dining hall before performing, so say hello and welcome them to SJC!
