UBC Centre for Chinese Research

UBC Centre for Chinese Research Through seminars, conferences, and publications, the CCR facilitates the exchange of research findings within the University and between the community.

The Centre for Chinese Research (CCR) was formally established in 1992 with the following objectives:
- to strengthen Chinese studies at UBC;
- to encourage and coordinate research on China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, the overseas Chinese communities, and Canada's relationship with these areas;
- to promote interaction among faculty, graduate students, and visiting scholars doing research on China;

- to facilitate linkages between scholars doing research on China at UBC with those in Asia; and
- to promote a deeper understanding of China in Canada through outreach activities in local communities. Through workshops, seminars, conferences, and publications, the Centre facilitates the exchange of research findings within the University and between the University and the community at large. The Centre for Chinese Research’s strong interdisciplinary focus and close ties to academic, international, policy-making, business, and local communities make it the main hub for the wide range of scholars at UBC working in all aspects of Chinese studies.
