Join us on September 10 for a guest lecture featuring neuroscientist, writer, and award winning photographer Dr. Yoav Litvin.

Dr. Litvin visits UBC to deliver his talk, Wired to Steal: A Neurobehavioral model of Colonial Aggression from 9/11 to 10/7, drawing insights from his upcoming book co authored with Dr. Ilan Pappe titled Wired to Steal: Zionism and the Shaping of the Western Mind.

The lecture explores the intersection of behavioral neuroscience, investigative narrative, and political psychology. Dr. Litvin analyzes how systemic structures target human brain biology, including fear circuitry, empathy pathways, and social belonging mechanisms, to influence public perception and normalize state violence.

What Ira thinks what makes PSA special?
She said, โ€œIโ€™ve been the Psychology Representative with AUS since last year, and while I loved that role, I found myself wanting something a little different this year, something more community driven. Being AUS rep is great for advocacy and structure, but PSA feels like the space where I can actually connect with people who share my interests, build genuine friendships, and serve in a way that feels personal rather than procedural. With how big and spread out our department is, PSA gives me the chance to be part of a smaller, tighter knit community of like minded psych students, and thatโ€™s exactly what I was looking for this year.โ€

What: Psychology Undergraduate Research Conference (PURC)

Friday, April 10th, 5:00 - 9:00 PM
Saturday, April 11th, 9:00 AM - 7:15 PM
Where: Earth Sciences Building
How Much: Free for all psych students

This event provides psychology students with the opportunity to gain exposure to different formats and techniques involved in research presentation. Students are also encouraged to engage with and be inspired by the research presented at the conference, while gaining a deeper understanding of the HSP studies they have participated in.

Note: food will only be provided to people who had previously purchased a PURC ticket, but everyone is welcome to come in to watch and engage with the presentations.
